Look up, friend of God!
Look up from the task immersing you.
Look up from the same old, same old.
Look up from the downsides of life.
Look up from old perspectives.
Look up when your soul is tired and grouchy!
Wonder aloud, God,
what does it feel like to be a friend who feels more than driven passion, but love?
Wonder aloud, God,
why do I want to retire from work at 33 and a half?
Wonder aloud, God,
how does the old become new again?
Wonder aloud, God,
where are you breaking through with sunshine and grace?
Wonder aloud, God,
why is it that I think rest is a sin, and not a recreation of my soul in you?
Wonder aloud, God,
okay, Lord, beam me up!
Beam me up, to see the Kingdom as beautiful.
Beam me up, to see rest as Your gift and set me to sleep.
Beam me up, to feel deeply the depth of your love beyond any task or purpose!
Beam me up, to see with fresh eyes and a renewed, drumming heart how good this world can be.
Beam me up, to kiss Your cheek and say, Thank You.
My spirit is refreshed in rest.
My eyes are cleansed in rest.
My body is nourished in rest.
My agendas bow down in rest.
Other agendas pale in comparison.
A steadfast spirit
A gentle breeze
A remembered laugh
A sigh of contentment
A song of whimsy
A friendship renewed
A God of recreation
Oh, now I remember . . .
You are God.
